Welcome to our new column:
Meet the Staff! Each month, we will feature a different staff member. Make sure to say hello to them whenever you see
This month, we would like you to meet Laura Sanscartier. Laura has worked at the Parker Library as a Library Assistant in the Technical Services Department since 2009.
A life-long Dracut resident, she has a degree in Voice from Emmanuel College, where she graduated magna cum laude with Distinction in the Field. She sang for the Tanglewood Festival Chorus (resident chorus of the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops) for 19 years, and was able to work onstage performances, recordings, film scores, and sporting events of all kinds while with them.
Laura has been an avid reader since the age of 3, and is a self-proclaimed "geek." She especially adores Victorian literature and the show “Doctor Who.” Her favorite book is Jane Eyre. When she isn't reading, she's convincing her (very patient) husband Paul to keep binge-watching science fiction television with her.
Laura says, "Working at the library is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I so enjoy the everyday learning experience of being in a library, and I love showing others how they can learn as well. Getting to know the new world of a book, movie, or television show is so exciting.... it just can't be beat!"
Laura is also one of our readers' advisory staff members. She takes turns responding to patrons that fill out our online readers' response form. If your "to be read" pile is getting low, take a moment to fill out one of our forms. We'll respond to you with five reading recommendations, based on your likes and dislikes, within two weeks.
Whether you're asking for reading recommendations or just passing by, make sure to say hello to Laura when you see her!
