Local Man Held Without Bail After Allegedly Trying To Run Over Cops

A 48-year-old Dracut man is facing a litany of charges after allegedly breaking into a woman's apartment and later using his vehicle to try and run over a pair of Lowell Police officers.
John Casey, 28 Kilby St., Apt. 4, Dracut, is charged with armed assault with intent to commit murder; resisting arrest, unarmed burglary, failure to stop for police and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Casey, who had been being held without bail since his arrest, was in court Thursday for a dangerousness hearing. His attorney stipulated to Casey being "a danger to society and he was ordered held without bail pending his next court appearance for a probable cause hearing on March 17.
The incident took place on Feb. 16, when Casey is alleged to have broken in the victim's apartment at 307 Mammoth Road and made threats against her, Lowell Police were called to the scene but Casey allegedly drove his truck right at two officers. According to a police report, he ignored commands from the officers to stop and turn the truck off.
Instead, he allegedly fled the scene and led officers on a multi-town chase into New Hampshire. He was able to elude officers and ditched his truck, which was later found in Litchfield. With the held of social media, law enforcement was able to track down Casey the next day.
