Englesby Elementary School Principal Andrew Allen has resigned from his position, just days after being placed on paid administrative leave.
School department officials have not shared Allen's reasons for resigning or the substance of the investigation into his conduct.
At the time he was placed on leave, Superintendent Steven Stone said there was a review being conducted regarding a personnel matter. School officials emphasized it did not have anything to do with any of the students in the school district and the Interim Police Chief Neil Ouellette said his department was not investigating Allen for any criminal activity.
However, in a letter to parents dated Feb. 14, Stone announced Allen's resignation. He further announced the appointment of David Hill as Englesby interim principal through the end of the school year.
Hill is a former principal at Greenmont School rom 2005-2012 and has most recently served as curriculum director for the district. According to Stone, a search will be conducted for a new, permanent principal for Englesby, with a likely start date of July 1.
