Robert A. Talbot
Born in Lowell on April 3, 1942, Robert was a son of the late Ovila "Jack" and Gertrude (Drolet) Talbot, both of Massachusetts. He graduated from Chelmsford High School where he had played baseball, basketball, and football. After school, Robert went on to work as a service manager for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for over 15 years. The majority of his career, however, was dedicated to working as a Machinist for the B&M railroad system, and afterwards, Amtrak for over 30 years until his retirement from Massachusetts Bay Railroad.
In his spare time, Robert played softball in the Greater Lowell Softball League. He coached the Dracut Little League for many years in the 1970s, after which he joined the Dracut Pop Warner Football League as Equipment Manager as well as holding a position on the Board of Directors. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and overall, a genuine sports lover.
In addition to his wife, Ann, Robert is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Robert J. Talbot and his wife Christine of Hudson, NH, Steve Talbot and his wife Colleen of Dracut, Cheryl Roy of Lowell, and their mother, Pauline J. Talbot of Dracut; 7 grandchildren, Jacqueline and Michael Talbot, Ryan and Ashlee Talbot, Danielle, Christoper, and Amanda Roy; 3 step-children, Tara M. (Hamilton) Davis and her husband Michael of Beverly, Kenneth Hamilton and his wife Naria of Florida, and April Hamilton of Lowell; step-grandchildren, Emma Merrill, Casey Davis, and Aria and Matthew Hamilton; 2 great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Jocelyn; sister-in-law, Ciecle Talbot of New York; nephew, Johnny Talbot also of New York; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ovila Talbot Jr; his son-in-law, Stephen Roy; and his nephew, Joseph Talbot.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sunrise Assisted Living Facility for the continuous love and care they showed Robert.
