The new session of the Massachusetts Legislature opened Wednesday with the official swearing-in ceremonies for the House and Senate members.
Dracut Rep. Colleen Garry was sworn in for her new term representing the 36th Middlesex District on Beacon Hill. Garry was recently elected co-chair of the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators.
"It was an honor to be sworn in by Governor Baker yesterday to serve another term as State Representative," Garry Posted on her Facebook page. "Thank you to the voters of Quincy and Randolph for placing your faith in me. I look forward to getting back to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and anticipate a productive legislative session."

State Sen. Barbara L'Italien, whose 2nd Essex and Middlesex District includes Dracut, was sworn in for her second term.
"I was thrilled to be sworn in to my second term today representing Andover, Dracut, Lawrence and Tewksbury as your State Senator," L'Italien posted on her Facebook page. "Thank you, again, for your support. I am so excited to continue work for you and our district!"
