For the Dracut High football team, a 14-0 loss to rival Methuen on Thanksgiving Day was a disappointing way to end the the season. But a 6-5 record gives the Middies' fans plenty tp look forward to in 2017.
Dracut was led by Mike Levasseur, who rushed for 80 yards on 15 carries. But time and again, the Middies were stymied by a stingy Rangers defense.
Methuen (6-5) drew first blood just before halftime on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Perdomo to David Kelley.
It stayed 7-0 until the fourth quarter, when the Rangers managed an insurance touchdown. A 40-yard completion from Perdomo to Kelley gave Methuen a first-and-goal from the Dracut 4. From there, Perdomo ran it in for the score to make it 14-0.
The Dracut defense had an outstanding gave, led by defensive MVP Richie Glynn, who registered three sacks and four tackles for loss. Levasseur and Derek Prak also had excellent games for the defense.
Dracut struggled offensively throughout the game, but managed to drive to the Methuen 4 in the final minute before being stopped by the Rangers on fourth down.
