(Editor's note: The following story is based on information published by the Dracut Fiscal Working Group on the Dracut Action for Education Facebook page.)

On Dec. 1, a group of parents in Dracut is holding an event in the the Community Room at Dracut Police Headquarters to explain the financial situation in the Dracut Public School District.

Dracut School Finance 101will begin at 7:30 p.m. It is being presented and sponsored by Dracut Fiscal Working Group.

The group hosted a similar program back in 2015. Since then, the group believes some aspects of education financing in Dracut have improved but work still needs to be done.

"Much has changed (after 2 elections and a town meeting). We must act if we want to see class sizes drop and positions restored which are important to keeping kids in the district and improving the quality of a Dracut education," the group posted.

According to DAE members, any residents who would like to know how the schools are funded, and/or join with other parents in working to ensure continued progress in our school system are invited to attend.
