LETTER: Reader Endorses Barbara L’Italien For State Senate

Oct 29, 2016 08:19AM ● By Theresa Gilman

To the Editor:

Every so often there is a state lawmaker who talks the talk and, more importantly, walks the walk. Barbara  L’Italien is such a person. Her legislative achievements as our state senator have been impressive.

She has supported her constituents and her legislative district well in many ways. She stood side-by-side with her fellow citizens to defeat the KM pipeline construction through her district. She stood up against dramatic increases on health care costs for our police, firefighters, teachers, and others. She secured funding in the state’s Economic Development Bill for Andover, Dracut, Tewksbury, and Lawrence. She secured funding for Andover including the cleaning up of Fields Pond and Berry Pond and a study at Andover High School to ascertain the cost of a new media center. She has also toured small businesses in her district to learn more about their needs and how she can help.

She makes herself accessible to her constituents throughout her district by hosting public office hours every month at senior centers in Andover, Dracut, and Tewksbury.

She has built a record of accomplishment that clearly demonstrates her commitment to all of us. I encourage all of you to vote for Barbara in the upcoming election on November 8.

Better yet, you can vote for her sooner by getting to the polls during the early voting time from October 24 to November 4 at Town Hall.

Hope to see you at the polls this year.
