Middies, Gryphons Roundup: GLT Soccer Qualifies For States, Dracut Girls Win Thriller

Greater Lowell Tech 38, Minuteman 8

Greater Lowell 0, St. Mary's 0
With the tie, Greater Lowell improved to 7-7-4 and qualifies for the State Tournament.

Greater Lowell 4, Mystic Valley 1

Greater Lowell improved to 7-7-3 with a win over Mystic Valley.

Kyle Godek had two goals for GL. Jimmy Rapaso and Mateo Velez added single tallies.

North Andover 2, Dracut 1

Dracut played a strong game but fell to North Andover. Senior Forward Fred Kazalski scored for the Middies, assisted by Edwin Bonilla.

The teams were tied, 1-1, at halftime. North Andover got the game-winner in the 79th minute.

Senior keeper Dan Lerman made 6 saves for Dracut. Seniors McKendy Seac, Kody Lania, Sean Nugent, Fred Kazalski, Casey Rivera,  and Josh Desrochers also played well.

Greater Lowell 7, St. Mary's 0

Milad Amiri, Juan Giron, Kyle Quijano, Kimani Lewis, Alex Arruda and Ryley Budau played well, as the Grphons rolled to the easy win.

Chelsea 2, Greater Lowell 0

Keeper Evan Blatis had a strong game, with 10 saves, despite the loss. The loss was just the second of the season for the Gryphons JV squad.


Dracut 2, Billerica 1

Makendra Looney broke a 1-1 tie with 16 minutes left in the second half as the Middies celebrated Senior Night by pulling out a 2-1 win over Billerica.

Lydia Abamoah assisted on the game-winning goal. Abamoah also scored the first goal for Dracut.  Kayla Gooch, Rachel Santos, Taylor Roberts and Sarah Boemeester also played well in the win. Keeper Brooke Boemeester had an excellent game with 11 saves.

Mystic Valley 6, Greater Lowell 0

Greater Lowell found itself overmatched in a 6-0 loss to Mystic Valley.

Emily Machado, Emily Goglia, Breany Velazquez, Jailene Medina, Betty Ashton and Michaela Marcoux had good games for the Gryphons, who dropped to 2-13-1.

Earlier in the week, the Gryphons earned a 1-0 win over Lawrence.

Viviana Guerrero had the game-winning goal. Keeper Leah Miller made 5 saves to earn the shutout.

Hallie Bosia, Macy Lapan and Andrea Guerrero had excellent games for the Gryphons.


North Andover 3, Dracut 0

North Andover was too much for the Middies in this MVC loss.

Erin McMeniman played well with 5 kills, 2 aces and 15 digs. Lauren Byam had 7 service points and 2 aces. Kim O'Shea and Nicole Morin played well defensively.

Greater Lowell 3, Innovation 0

Greater Lowell played a strong all-around match to blank Innovation Academy.

Keeley Farley and Rhiannon Pedant played excellent matches for the Gryphons. Jessica Macfadgen had a great match serving.

Field Hockey
Tewksbury 2, Dracut 2

Sarah Wilson and Julia Otoski had goals for the Middies in a well-played 2-2 tie with Tewksbury. Sophomore Meghan MacKay was brikkiant in net with 14 saves.
