Middies, Gryphons Roundup: DHS Volleyball Rallies For Win, GLT Soccer Drops Heartbreaker

Greater Lowell Tech battles Lowell Catholic.


Tyngsboro 2, Dracut 1

Dracut High jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but were unable to hold off Tyngsboro, falling, 2-1.

The Middies scored their goal in the first five minutes of the game.

Essex Tech 6, Greater Lowell 0

Greater Lowell was unable to keep up with a strong Essex Tech squad. 

Emily Medina, Macy Lapan, Victoria Rosado, Viviana Guerrero, Rikiah Seid, Shayla Inglis and Hallie Bosia played well in the loss. 


Lowell Catholic 1, Greater Lowell 0

Greater Lowell gave powerhouse Lowell Catholic (11-2) everything it could handle before falling, 1-0, in a hard fought defensive battle.

Ian Kirumira played an exceptional defensive game for the Gryphons. Also playing well in the loss were Elerson Roesler, Jared Marchand, Bradley Bostwick and Luis DeSouza.

Groton-Dunstable 3, Dracut 2

The Middies and Crusaders engaged in an epic back-and-forth match, with Gro-Dun pulling out the win in a nailbiting fifth set.

Set were 28-26, 19-25, 25-13, 24-26, 15-12. 

Erin McMeniman had a strong game for Dracut with 9 kills, 9 service points and 24 digs, Jenna Frasier chipped in with  9 kills and 5 blocks. Gabbie Brown, Angela D'Auteuil and Nicole Morin also played well.

Greater Lowell 3, Fellowship 0

Rachel Rinaldi had six kills to lead Greater Lowell to a straight set win.

Myracol Mastropeitro added 5 kills and Julia MacFadgen chipped in with 6 assists. Alyssa Beaulieu and Olivia Demers also played well.

Dracut 3, Whittier Tech 1

Dracut dropped the first set, before coming on strong for a victory over Whittier. 

Set scores were 24-26, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20.

Adriana Martinez led the way for Dracut (3-8) with 10 kills and 3 blocks. Erin McMeniman contributed 6 kills, 23 service points, 5 aces and 20 digs, McKenzie Snowdon added 5 kills and 5 service points.

Lowell Catholic 3, Greater Lowell 0

Lowell Catholic was able to roll past Greater Lowell in straight sets. Set scores were  25-14, 25-17 and 25-13.

Jada Howell, Myracol Mastrapietro and Julie MacFadgen played well for the Gryphons in the loss.
