Obituary: Ralph G. Gallant, 90

 Ralph G. Gallant, 90, a life long resident of Lowell, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 4th, at Lowell General Hospital, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to the late Wanda H. (Kalisz) Gallant, until her passing in January 2007.

Ralph was born in Boston, MA on May 28, 1926, the son of the late Edith (Goodrich) and Albert Gallant. He spent most of his life in Lowell, graduated from Lowell Schools and enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17. He was stationed on the Destroyer U.S.S. Hancock and saw duty in the Pacific. He was employed by General Electric for 39 years and at his retirement he was a foreman.

Ralph was a proud member of St. Casimir's Polish National Catholic Church in Lowell, as well as a member of its Men's Society.

He was an avid golfer and bowler, but he enjoyed nothing more than spending time and being surrounded by his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by three sons, Craig Gallant of Virginia, Ralph Gallant of Cotuit, Ma, John Gallant of Huntington Beach, California; two daughters and a son in law, beloved Wanda, who was truly his angel on earth, Kathryn and Eric Nemes of Plymouth and sister in laws Dorothy Gallant and Eva Kalish both of Lowell; 14 grandchildren, Stacy, Stephanie, Barbara, Benjamin, Brad, Austin, Amanda, and Elizabeth Gallant, Patrick and his wife Caitlyn, Timothy, Ryan, Erik, Emma-Kate and Molly Kasha Nemes, 5 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

He is predeceased by his twin brother Robert, his brother in law Chester Kalish and his daughter in law Mary Gallant.

ARRANGEMENTS: At Ralph's request, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass which will be held at 11 a.m. on TUESDAY, October 11th at St. Casimir's Church, 268 Lakeview Avenue, Lowell. Burial will be held privatly and at the convenience of the family, in St. Casimir's Cemetery in Pelham, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Casimir's Church Fund 268 Lakeview Ave., Lowell, MA. Arrangements are under the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut.
