Obituary: Josephine Elizabeth "JoJo" Cunningham, 61
Sep 27, 2016 08:52AM ● Published by Theresa Gilman
Born June 16, 1955, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, JoJo was a daughter to the late Catherine "Kitty" (Lynch) and late Philip Cunningham, both of Ireland. She graduated from Blessed George Napier High School in Ireland, earning a number of school medals for track and horseback riding. She immigrated to the United States in the 1970s and continued her education at Lawrence High School and the Greater Lawrence Vocational School, where she earned a trade in hairdressing. She later worked as a manager for Cardinal Shoe Corp. for many years on Canal Street in Lawrence.
JoJo was a courageous and compassionate soul, whose contagious smile and infectious laugh never failed to light up the room. She had a quick wit and was notorious for throwing out one-liners at the most inappropriate of times. She had a sensational love of family and always lent her good ear to anyone who sought advice or a bit of reassurance. JoJo loved working in the garden, giving a scratchin' to her animals, cleaning her home to an impeccable shine, watching Naked & Afraid, spoiling her granddaughter, and sharing a "hot cuppa" with whomever came to visit.
While JoJo's soul has gone home to God, she is survived in this world and will be dearly missed by her loving daughter, Heidi Rose Mader and her husband Jeff of Auburn, New Hampshire; her beautiful little bird, Aria Rose; her siblings, Margaret Schmidt, Maureen Fraser, and Philip Cunningham, all of Lawrence; as well as several nieces and nephews, Ashley, Carlos, Brendan, Cameron, Rory, Richard, Tiffany, Jennifer, and Sabrina; her dear friend Michelle LaFay; and a number of cousins and friends.
